Part of the worship experience today (March 14) included a short and powerful video detailing the impact of volunteers in the food voucher ministry.
Can there be no greater calling than helping feed the hungry? We know people are hungry around the world, but are we aware of the hungry in our own backyard?
The video included a short testimony from one woman who had received help from the ministry in terms of feeding and clothing her young child. She compared the experience to a trip to Macy's, the upscale department store.
Wow! What a powerful word. In case you're wondering, more people are hungry than ever before. According to the video, some 539 vouchers were handed out in 2005. A mere four years later, more than 1,000 have been given to the needy.
The ministry has needs that might be a perfect fit for a LakeRidge Impossible Dreamer. First, consider donating hygiene items that are provided as care packages for those who need help. Second, consider becoming a volunteer.
Contact the LakeRidge UMC church office for more information.
And remember Matthew 25:35 & 40.
Last Wednesday our Food Voucher ministry had to turn hungry persons away because they did not have enough volunteers to process the applications. If you can help on Wednesday mornings from 9:30 to noon (even once a month will help) please contact the church office at 794-4015.
